After 337 Weekly Blogs, one would think that I have ran out of things to write about by now. After 8 solid years of releasing blog after blog, week after week, I think that I’ve pretty much covered everything there is to be covered about diet, training and supplementation.
I’ve ridiculed the IIFYM Diet for being dangerous.
I’ve gone to war with CrossFit for being ridiculous.
I’ve debunked Bro Science “Facts” for being fact-less.
I’ve challenged Meatheaded Myths for being moronic.
I’ve exposed the Supplement Industry for being shameless.
I’ve revealed the Fitness Industry for it’s flakiness.
And I’ve unmasked the truths behind Dumb Dieting Fads because….well…I’m just annoyed with Dumb Dieting Fads.
When it came to my personal life, I was never one to hold back either.
I wrote in great detail about how my troubled youth lead to a successful career in a Fitness Industry in which I had originally wanted nothing to do with. I talked openly and honestly about the traumatic lost of a very close client of mine who passed away during one of our training sessions on the gym floor. I dedicated an entire blog to my best friend who lost his life to skin cancer at the young age of 25 years old. I spoke candidly about my Grand Mal Seizure that occurred during one of my workouts, and admitted to my addiction that I struggled with for over 6 months with regards to the prescription opioids in which I was prescribed shortly afterwards.
And then when it came to addressing racial, political and global issues, I never refrained from providing by opinions, sharing my beliefs, and taking a stance, even if it meant losing business (which in some cases it did).
I supported Doctors, Nurses and Scientists throughout COVID-19.
I listened and learned ways in which I could help undo systemic racialized violence.
I expressed my disgust with regards to an unjust war, anger towards our so-called “Global Leaders”, and embarrassment for my own country’s treatment of Indigenous People for more than 100 years.
However after all these years, I can’t help but wonder – Am I Done? Do people even read blogs anymore? I mean if I’m not tweeting on Twitter or dancing topless while lip syncing on Tik Tok, do my views and opinions even matter?
Am I about to get cancelled?
Relatively Relevant
I would be lying if I said there were not times over the past few years where I did not question my own training methods, supplement protocols and nutritional plans. In fact, I think it would be quite ignorant of me to not at least keep an open mind to new workout concepts, supplement science, and dieting philosophies that arise and might be more efficient and effective than my own. As a Coach/Trainer I believe it’s important to remain on top of your game, especially as the game you’re playing continues to evolve. I’ve said time and time again during this Global Pandemic, how important it is to be able to reinvent oneself. Regardless of whether you are a Business Owner, Contractor, or Employee, if you refuse to adapt and change with the times, you will eventually get left behind in the past.
And now with the emergence of living within this Cancel Culture, we all have to be so careful with regards to what we say and how we say it, for even one misinterpreted quote, offensive tweet, or risqué selfie, could end your career and your livelihood instantaneously.
So how do you remain relevant and politically correct even if it means occasionally going against your very own beliefs and philosophies?
I mean, do we really need to start censoring ourselves even more than many of us already do in order not to get cancelled?
