Most Trainers & Coaches take the whole “Living a Healthy Lifestyle” approach when marketing their services. “Eat this in order to lose that” or “Lift this in order to build that”. Now even though I myself am guilty of using this approach from time to time, I like to think that we can all do more to help improve upon our health then just follow a clean diet and workout on a regular basis.
And guess what?
According to numerous studies, along with some serious claims supported from actual REAL scientific research – There Is!
When Was The Last Time You Had an Orgasm?
In all honesty, if you have to think about the answer to this question, it’s probably been too long.
Before I penetrate into the numerous health benefits of having regular orgasms, I think it’s important to first explain what an orgasm actually is. And although this might seem obvious to some of you, it might seem less obvious to those of you who are still trying to figure out the answer to my question above……
Orgasm – “a climax of sexual excitement, characterized by feelings of pleasure centred in the genitals and (in men) experienced as an accompaniment to ejaculation.
Okay, so now that we know what an Orgasm is, the next question you might find yourself asking is how often should we be having them? That is ofcourse unless you still find yourself stuck and perplexed on my first question – in which case I suggest you pause reading this blog, go have an orgasm, and return to your computer/mobile screen (after washing your hands please!).
How Many Orgasms Should We Be Having in a 7 Day Week?!?!
According to well known and respected Sex Expert/Coach Gigi Engle, along with numerous other Sex Coaches whose articles and blogs I’ve read through, the general recommendation is at least three times per week – but preferably every single day.
Now, right now some of you might feel embarrassed that your orgasm numbers are well below three times per week. And right now, some of you might feel embarrassed that your orgasm numbers are well over three times per week. And right now, some of you have just come back from washing your hands. Just remember, that three times per week is just a general guideline and that there is really no reason to feel ashamed or embarrassed about your orgasm number.
The Health Benefits Of Regular Orgasms
Now that we have completed the foreplay segment of this week’s blog, it’s time to move onto the main event.
First the medical jargon:
Benefits of Regular Orgasms:
– Increase pelvic floor strength
– Prevents cervical infections and help relieve urinary tract infection in both women and men
– Help combat insomnia by releasing dopamine and oxytocin
– Increases cardiovascular health
– Can help reduce menstrual pain in women
– Burns up to 100 calories (As a Fitness Professional, I recommend fact checking this claim with your Fitbit)
Now The Fun Stuff:
– Orgasms improve body image – When we masturbate or have sex with our partner, many of us begin to see our bodies in a better, more forgiving pleasure centric way
– Orgasms decrease stress – As I mentioned above, orgasms produce the neurotransmitter oxytocin. This hormone actually helps reduce stress, relieves pain, and can make you feel closer to your partner if you’re in a relationship.
– Orgasms boost your immune system – Orgasms are a great way to boost immunity because they help rid us of stress. Stress ofcourse weakens the immune system substantially, making us more susceptible to all sorts of illness and viruses.
– Orgasms boost self-esteem – Let’s be honest, if we know how to please our partners, and are in tune with our own bodies and pleasure points, then it become increasingly more difficult to feel any negativity towards ourselves if we’re constantly left feeling so amazing through regular orgasms all the time.
– Orgasms help decrease pain – Several studies have found that orgasms release chemicals that increase one’s pain threshold. So if you suffer from chronic lower back pain or dealing with a nasty hangover, it might be time for a couple of orgasms.
The Grand Finale
Whether you’re riding solo, practicing with a partner, or playing with a team, if there is anything to take away from this week’s blog it’s that it’s important to know how to pleasure yourself (and the people you might be having sex with) through regular orgasms.
Remember, you’re health depends on it…….
Yours in Good Health,
