Are Hybrid Workouts The Way of The Future?

This week’s blog is not a blog at all. It’s more of an open ended question that I have for all of you.

Do you believe hybrid workouts are the way of the future? And if they are, do you believe that they can offer the same benefits that a person would achieve with their health and physique if he or she was training in a fully equipped gym with licensed and trained fitness instructors/coaches?

COVID-19 changed the way that many industries do business. With more and more employees now working from home than ever before, the days of waking up early to fight traffic so that you can make it to your desk by 9 am are few and far between for many of us. Working a 9-5 job has become more flexible which is great for those people who have children and/or have/had a long commute to the office.

Of course like anything, with the good comes the bad. Many Landlords who once relied heavily on the monthly income from their commercial tenants are now struggling to fill their empty offices. As a result of the Hybrid Work from Home model, hundreds of thousands of buildings across the globe now lie empty. With so many people working from home, many small businesses that also once relied on the office crowd to stay afloat and pay their employees such as cafes, restaurants and even gyms, are now being forced to permanently close their doors.

I spoke briefly about how I believe this chain reaction will have some fairly negative consequences on the economy in the future in a recent blog a few weeks earlier. At the same time, an argument could be made about all the positives that working from home will have on the environment as many studies have suggested that part-time remote work could potentially slow carbon emissions by more than 51 million metric tons annually.

Whether this Hybrid Work from Home model will be a positive or negative change long term has yet to be seen. Regardless, it appears as if it’s here to stay.

From a health and fitness perspective, as someone who strongly believes that you most certainly CANNOT get an effective resistance training workout at home (unless you have a fully equipped gym) I have mixed feelings about this new form of hybrid training that many fitness companies have newly adopted.

But before I move forward, I want to hear your thoughts……

DM me on Instagram or Email me your thoughts and I’ll share them anonymously in next week’s blog.

Yours in Good Health,
