I don’t know about you, but I absolutely HATE having to take a pill to help fix a problem. Whether it’s a Prescription Drug such as Oxytocin, or an Over-The-Counter Medication such as Advil or Tylenol, I don’t like my body having to rely on a pill, powder or injection, to help me feel “Normal” again.
Two Trains of Thought
I want to be 100% clear when I state that I am not against people having to use medications and prescription drugs if and when necessary. I’m not naive and I don’t believe that something as serious as cancer or heart disease can be treated by drinking some kind of herbal tea and dancing around in a drum circle while burning sage into the air. I understand how important these particular drugs are to a person who is ill when it comes to improving their health and wellbeing.
The drugs in which I’m referring to are the ones in which we’ve been told we “need” in order to “feel better” when we are feeling tired, sore and/or rundown. However my argument has always been, what if we were able to get to a point in which we could strengthen our own immune systems naturally? Would these quick-fix drugs even be necessary?
“100% Natty”
I’m certain that there are plenty of people out there that boast about being “100% Natural”. These are the people who refrain from drinking alcohol, never indulge in processed sugars, stay away from simple carbs, and don’t own a bar of deodorant. Well I can honestly say that I am not one of these people. I like to have an alcoholic beverage from time to time, I love my cookies, I live for simple carbs, and I don’t like to smell bad.
With that said, 90% of my waking hours are spent taking care of my health and my body. I exercise regularly. I supplement with vitamins and minerals daily. And I eat wisely. I do all these things on a consistent basis for one common reason – Better Health.
The Drug Doctor
I never have and never will put blame on Doctors who write prescriptions and/or make recommendations for certain pain killers, opioids, muscle relaxers, and even non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that might not be necessary for their patients (at least no publicly anyways). I’ve always believed that it’s the Patient’s responsibility to do his or her own due diligence and research when deciding upon whether or not to take any drug, regardless of how high or low the potential risks and side effects may be.
And I also believe that it’s the Patient’s responsibility to ensure that he or she is doing everything they possibly can naturally through diet and exercise to give their body a fighting chance against potential viruses, colds and diseases that may arise.
COVID-19 And Your Health
I’m not going to comment on COVID-19 in this week’s Blog. I feel as if I’ve done enough discussing, analyzing and venting on this Global Pandemic these past few months. I do however want to mention that I think it’s laughable when I see someone walking down the street with a mask on while holding a lit cigarette in their hand. I would also like to mention that I think it’s ridiculous when I hear of people not leaving their homes and sitting on their asses while eating potato chips and pizza because they don’t want to get COVID. And finally, I think it’s absurd, that there are people out there that actually need to be reminded to wash their GOD DAMN HANDS and practice SOCIAL DISTANCING!!!!
Surely if COVID-19 doesn’t get to these people, lung cancer, heart disease, strokes, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, salmonella and respiratory infections, certainly will.
Remember, if you ignore your health, eventually it will go away……
Yours in Good Health,
Nick Cosgrove
