I consider myself to be an incredibly lucky person.
No, I’m not a Trust Fund Baby.
No, I wasn’t born with a Silver Spoon in my mouth.
No, I never went to Private School.
No, I never had a Safety Net to catch me if and when I fell.
Yes, I grew up on Limited Funds.
Yes, I had my first job at 7 Years Old.
Yes, I never went to College.
Yes, I’ve struggled Financially and Emotionally in Life.
And oddly enough, despite all of this, I still consider myself an incredibly lucky person.
I have my health. I have my intelligence. And most importantly, I have my team.
Shitty People Equate To Shitty Results
Regardless if I’m working with a client online or in person, I always try to get to know them on a personal level.
I ask them questions about their home life. Whether or not they have a partner. And if they do have a partner, is that partner supportive of their health and fitness goals?
I ask them about their social circle. Do their friends exercise and take care of themselves or do they live inactive and sedentary lifestyles?
And finally, I ask them about their careers. Do they have a stressful job? Do they work in a positive environment or a negative one?
I’m a firm believer that in order to get the most out of my clients in the gym with their workouts, and in the kitchen with their diets, I need to be nosy. I have to ask questions. And then I have to re-ask some of those questions again and again. If I’m going to customized a Training Program or design a Nutritional Plan for someone, I need to know more about them than just their hopes and dreams. I need to know about potential obstacles and barriers that could arise and sabotage their goals to lose weight, build muscle, improve their health, and transform their physique.
If I don’t know my clients more on a personal level, than how can I prepare them for the times when they hit a plateau, or feel discouraged, unmotivated and want to give up and quit?
Quite simply – I can’t.
Building Your Team
I’ve always tried my best to surround myself with ambitious, positive and disciplined individuals. I don’t have time for laziness, I don’t have empathy for negativity, and I don’t have patience for lackluster results.
To be perfectly honest, when I meet someone who carries any negative personality traits, I cut them loose. I have no problem distancing myself from people that act as anchors that will only hold me down as I try to move forward. Life moves quickly. Opportunities disappear as quickly as they arise. If you don’t act in the present, you will get left behind in the past.
The team of people that I choose to surround myself with on a regular basis all know this and share similar mindsets to my own. They all strive to be successful in life while building and maintaining meaningful relationships. They understand that there is more to life than financial wealth, but they also understand that there is more to life than just “being happy” while living with or working for very little return.
We’re taught from a young age that money can’t buy us happiness. We’re also taught from a young age to be grateful for what we have in life. These limitations have been engraved inside of us for so long, that most of us actually believe them. Rarely if ever are we taught that it’s okay to want more from life. In fact it’s sometimes even frowned upon and looked as “greedy” and/or “selfish” to go after a larger slice of the pie.
In my opinion, having the right team in place that doesn’t follow the “status quo” mindset is crucial if you’re ever going to accomplish anything significant in life.
Now, all that’s left to do is ask yourself if in fact you do have the right team in place to go out there and be greedy, selfish, and demand more out of life.
Yours in Good Health,
