HOW TO STAY FOCUSED ON YOUR HEALTH DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC – PART 2

Despite feeling as if a knife has been dangling over my head for the past 7 months, I’ve remained fairly positive throughout COVID-19 thus far. I will admit that the initial shock of possibly losing everything I’ve worked so hard for these past twenty years kept me up at night during those first few weeks of lockdown. And, yes there were quite a few days in which I felt depressed to only be booking 4-5 sessions each day, instead of my usual 7-12 sessions each morning alone. However once I realized that I had very little control over how this pandemic would effect my business, I decided to change my entire viewpoint on the current situation. And rather than become enraged with our Government for forcing the closure of businesses and blaming other countries for possibly starting this virus, I decided to put my focus primarily to improving both my physical health and my mental health.

My Mini Vacation

Yes, it’s true that we have been able to continue to operate both our In-House Training and Online Training Platforms throughout COVID-19. Albeit there have been plenty of changes and revisions that have had to be made. But like any company that wants to succeed and move forward, we learned how to transition and adapt to our new norm quickly and in an efficient manner.

And although business was not business as usual, I still found new ways to keep myself busy during the slower times. I started a Podcast on YouTube. I updated and gave a new facelift to our entire website. I started a new Online Training Program that has become increasingly popular these past few months. I took time to work on my business, rather than just work in it. To some this might just seem like more work, but to me it was extremely therapeutic to be doing things that I had wanted to do for so long, but really never had the time to do before.

A New Reason To Exercise

I was extremely fortunate to be able to continue along with my own training during COVID-19 at our Private Training Facility. Remaining consistent with my workouts was probably what kept me sane during those times in which I felt I was going to lose it. Anyone that trains with weights or exercises on a regular basis will understand what I mean. The release of endorphins that a person receives from working out is like no other. Having my regular workout routine to follow also helped provide me with a constant sense of normalcy.

I did however feel bad for those people who could not workout due to their gyms being closed. However I was incredibly impressed with how many people still managed to stay on track with their training through Home Workouts and exercising outside. This was extremely encouraging and motivating to see.

I’ve always believed that it’s so important to have a goal and a reason to exercise and workout. And to be honest, in the past mine had always been purely for vanity and aesthetics. However COVID-19 changed that. It’s not that I no longer cared about how I looked, I was just more focused on training to improve upon my own health. The stress of training to perfection was now gone. I started to enjoy my workouts again. I had a new reason to train that had nothing to do with ripped abs or bulging biceps. I now wanted to be strong. I wanted to be healthy. I wanted to be able to fight off the coronaviruses and other potential and harmful viruses to the best of my ability.

September 2020

So here we sit. 7 months into this Global Pandemic and with no sight of it ending anytime soon, I find myself like many of you, trying to find new ways each day to remain focused on the tasks at hand. I feel that having a reason to get up each day is so important. After all, if we don’t have a reason to get up, than why bother getting up at all?

I still have no idea what the future has in store for me or for any of us. But for now, my plan is to tackle each day, each hour and each minute as they come. Looking too far ahead can become overwhelming. Staying in the present and remaining focused on creating a positive environment is what keeps me happy and is what keeps me moving forward.
