In my opinion, laziness is one of the most unattractive qualities a person can have. Personally, I've always admired people who are ambitious and relentless when it comes to achieving their goals in life. People who are passionate about their work and enjoy what they do motivate me to try harder and push further with my own business. People who are dedicated to taking care of their health inspire me to complete my workouts regardless of how tired or busy I might be. And people who manage to balance a healthy lifestyle with a successful career, encourage me to do the same.
As someone who has coached and trained people to help improve their health and transform their physiques for the better part of the past two decades, I've always emphasized the importance of setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely) Goals. However as I become older, wiser (relatively speaking) and more experienced, I have found myself starting to question some of these "SMART" Goals that I myself have always abided to.
Ever since I was 15 years old I've strived to become successful. I was fortunate to be raised by two parents who both worked full time jobs. I say fortunate because watching how hard my parents worked installed a sickening work ethic in me from a young age. I was taught how to be independent. I was trained how to think outside the box. I was instructed how to remain disciplined. I was challenged to always go against the heard. I was prepared for the harsh realities of life.
In my opinion, a person is only truly successful if he or she is able to achieve (and maintain) a certain level of success in four specific areas of his or her life.
It's not difficult to be successful in one or possibly two areas of life.
But to be successful in all four?
Is it even possible?
Why Do You Workout?
It's a fairly simple and straightforward question really.
Do you workout to improve your health and fitness?
Do you workout to look better with your clothes on and perhaps even better with your clothes off?
Do you workout for the gram and for validation in the form of "likes" from your peers and followers/strangers?
Do you workout for mentally clarity and cognitive productivity?
As human beings, one of the most important traits that we look for when looking to enter a relationship with another human being is compatibility. No one wants to be in a relationship with someone that we either don’t get along with, can’t relate to, refuses to try and understand us, and who we have little to no common shared interests with.
As I’ve said time and time again, I am THE LAST person that should ever be allowed to offer relationship advice when it comes to seeking a partner or significant other. Which is why I will gladly refrain from providing it.
However when it comes to building and establishing a strong and meaningful relationship with our health and our fitness - I definitely have a few insights on this topic.
