Tis the season to be jolly, Fa la la la la la la la la - STOP!
Before you start donning your gay apparel or trolling the ancient Yule tide carol, back your Christmas train up! The holidays are coming fast, but are you ready to weather the storm?
With office Christmas parties and family functions to attend surely there will be plenty of drinks to be drank and food to be eaten. The holidays are a wonderful time of year. A time to be spent celebrating and enjoying the festivities with close friends and relatives who perhaps you don't get to see as much as you would like throughout the rest of the year, while others who you might prefer not to see at all during any time of the year. Regardless of how you spend your time off this holiday season make sure you use your timely wisely. And by wisely I simply mean: DO NOT TAKE TIME OFF FROM EXERCISING.
As I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed this morning I came across yet another video of someone in the gym performing an exercise completely incorrect, perhaps a little bit inappropriate and without a doubt somewhat odd looking. I then noticed that this particular video had already received over one thousand "likes" on Facebook within a couple of hours from when it was first posted. To further my distaste for this post there were countless rude, ignorant and nasty comments about the person performing the exercise in question in this video. Frustrated with the post I decided to leave my own little nasty comment. However my comment was not directed towards the person in the video, rather it was addressed to the original poster himself. Seriously, when is all this social media bullying going to stop?!?!?!?
Read onWow. I can't believe that November is already here! Where exactly did summer go? It didn't quite hit me that winter has finally arrived until earlier this morning when I heard Christmas songs playing on the radio. Personally, I'm not a fan of the cooler months as I much prefer the warmer weather. I really can't complain though as living in Vancouver, British Columbia do we rarely see snow or even frost in December. In reality it's really not that bad. Not bad at all. In fact, life is pretty damn good for me right now. Our business is busier than ever, the gyms are packed, and I recently just signed a contract to become a Brand Ambassador for a famous sports apparel company that is very well known within the fitness community. So with business continuing to thrive and my health being at it's best that its' been in years why do I feel so depressed?
Read onOkay, I've got a problem. Actually it's more of an annoyance then an actual problem. And as annoyed as I am with this particular topic I'm going to try my absolute best to turn this week's blog into an informative discussion rather then an ongoing, mind numbing, pointless rant. So without further ado, I bring to you my opinions with regards to the topic of cardiovascular exercise and weight lifting and why doing too much of it can actually hinder your results with your physique and performance in the gym.
Wait.....What?!?!? Did I just say what you thought I said? Too much exercise is a bad thing? Well, yes and no. It's not as black and white or as simple as you might think. We all know that too much of anything is not good for us. Everything in moderation, blah, blah blah. But when it comes to exercise surely your body can't get enough, right? WRONG! And at the risk of losing a few extra sessions with my own clients each week let me explain to you why doing too much exercise is in fact actually a bad thing.
