SO WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NOW?

I’m SICK of COVID-19!

I HATE Social Distancing!

I DREAD Self Isolating!

AND I’M TIRED Washing My Hands a Thousand Times a Day!!!!!

However as someone who cares about flattening the curve, I understand that everything I hate doing, is working, and therefore is necessary to continue to do. And although it’s working slowly, it is working. The problem is that I, like most of You, am starting to feel both mentally and physically drained and exhausted by fighting off the spread of the Coronavirus.

SITTING ON THE COUCH DOES NOT MAKE YOU A HERO!

I understand the importance of practicing social distancing and I get that it’s important that we all stay home to help continue to slow down the spread of COVID-19. However, I don’t believe sitting on your ass watching TV and playing video games all day is the ONLY way to help flatten the curve.

If you are healthy and able, then there are PLENTY of things that you can be doing right now to help contribute to assisting and saving mankind.

Donate Blood – Canadian Blood Services have made it very clear that they are in need for blood now more than ever. With fewer people leaving their homes in fear of getting and/or spreading the CoronaViruses, there is more of a demand for the healthy and able to donate today.

COVID-19 Volunteering – Now obviously it goes without saying that volunteering during COVID-19 is going to look alot different than it normally would be. With that said, there are numerous ways in which we can all help volunteer with the increase of virtual opportunities as people continue to self isolate and practice social distancing.

*Visit both our Facebook Group Page as well as our Instagram Page for Virtual Volunteer COVID-19 opportunities, in which we list on a regular basis.

Help Your Neighbours – If you have an elderly neighbour or know of someone who is immune compromised and therefore should not be going outside, than offer your assistance to help them by picking up their groceries and/or medications for them during this time. It’s important to look out for one another, and even more important to continue to help those who cannot help themselves and are in need of our assistance.

THE DISASTROUS COVID-19 DIET PLAN

I was at my local Costco the other day and was shocked to see that the entire store was sold out of flour and sugar. Now it took some time (and a few homemade videos) but I’ve finally have gotten over the entire hoarding toilet paper thing.

But what’s up with hoarding the flour and sugar?!?!?!?

What’s the plan here?

If COVID-19 doesn’t kill them, surely clogged arteries and/or a stroke or heart attack will do the job nicely if the hoarders actually plan on consuming all that flour and sugar in their “Homemade Meals” and “Snacks”.

Dumb Drunks

A few weeks ago, there was a rumour released here in British Columbia that the Liquor Stores would be closing down due to COVID-19. Well as soon as that rumour was spread, alcohol flew off the shelves faster than a N95 mask resells at an inflated price on the black market (or in this case Amazon/Craigslist).

Luckily the rumour was just that – a rumour. And I’m not going to go into detail as to why the selling of alcohol is considered an “Essential Service”.  If you yourself don’t understand this already than I suggest you research it, as unfortunately, it does actually make quite a bit of sense.

However alcoholics aside, is COVID-19 turning the social drinker into the everyday drinker? I hear stories from clients of their friends and co-workers drinking more because they don’t have to go into work each day. This concerns me as once this pandemic ends (and it will end) is society going to have a couple hundred thousand more of non functioning alcoholics to account for?

Stick To Your Routine

I’m so fortunate to have developed a passion for bodybuilding at such a young age. I attribute so many of my successes in life to bodybuilding. And one of the main successes that I attribute to bodybuilding is being able to stay focused and committed to following a routine. Regardless of how boring that routine might be, I’m committed to seeing it through each and everyday.

Now in the case of COVID-19 my day to day routine has been somewhat broken. No, I can’t train clients in person and no I can’t workout at my usual times of day. However I can still stick to my diet. And I can still get my workouts done (albeit just not in a gym). I can still wake up at my usual time. And I can still work on my business each and everyday.

I believe sticking to a productive routine is essential for both my mental and physical health. And the fact that we are currently living through a pandemic, just makes it even more important for me to remain on task with my day to day movements and operations.

So What Are You Going To Do Now?

I can’t tell you how to live your life and I won’t tell you what you should and should not do. I can however just remind you that COVID-19 will end one day. And although it may not be one day soon, it will eventually end. Life will hopefully return to somewhat of a normal state and we will get through this.

However even though we will get through this, I guess the question we should all be asking ourselves is how we want to come out of this – both mentally and physically, once COVID-19 is officially over…….

Yours in Good Health,

Nick Cosgrove
