Despite what many so-called “Fitness Experts” will try to sell/tell you, there really is no special formula, equation or magical supplement that is going to help you burn fat and build muscle. Sure, there are more efficient ways to train, and yes there are more effective ways to diet, but the reality is that if you want to lose that flab and transform your physique it takes consistency, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
Results Without the Work – Welcome to 2018……
There are millions of people on this planet who have a strong work ethic. And I know lots of people who are consistent and dedicated to both their careers and their families. Yet for some reason when it comes to exercising and dieting for their overall health and wellbeing, many of these very same people struggle immensely. Whether they are “too busy”, “too stressed” or “too tired” to get themselves to the gym, they can always justify and find a reason/excuse why they can’t workout.
As a small business owner I can relate to these types of people. I work 7 days a week. I have a roster of over one hundred clients that continues to grow on a monthly basis. I have schedules to coordinate, physical and health limitations to accommodate, and an overflowing inbox of emails that never seems to disintegrate. But regardless of how busy, how stressed or how tired I might be, I always get my daily workout in. And not because I “find” the time to fit it in, but because I “MAKE” the time to fit it in.
The Trainer’s Role
As a fitness professional it’s my job to motivate and educate others to exercise safely and effectively. I assist our clients by keeping them accountable for their workouts and teach them how to fuel their bodies properly in order to achieve the results that they desire with their health and physiques. It’s not my job to judge, criticize or analyze the way a person decides to live his or her life. I don’t get angry with my clients when they cheat on their diets and I don’t get upset with them if they miss a workout. It’s not because I don’t care, it’s simply because it’s not my job to police and/or babysit my clients to make sure that they are doing everything in their own power to create a positive change. They have to be the ones that are willing to put in the work. They have to be the ones that are willing to put in the work and go through the sacrifice. They have to be the ones that want to progress and succeed. I can only support, encourage and provide them with the necessary tools and resources needed to help them accomplish their health and fitness goals along the way.
The Real Secret
The point I’m trying to make here is that the real “secret” to building muscle, losing fat and improving your overall health is your own internal desire to do so. No fancy fitness app, fad diet or even celebrity personal trainer is going to do it for you. I never have and never will take credit for my clients’ successes and for the results that they have achieved with their physiques. As much as most of them will credit me for their physical transformations and improved health conditions, I am not the secret to their success. For a person to change they have to first want to change. Sometimes the assistance from a trained professional helps this transition run more smoothly and efficiently. Sometimes it doesn’t. Regardless of whether you have the guidance of an experienced and knowledgeable Personal Trainer, or are using the latest fitness app to help log all of your macronutrients and workouts, you will ultimately still fail UNLESS you are willing to put in the time, effort and energy needed to follow your goals through. You cannot rely on another person or technology to accomplish your goals for you. You and ONLY You are the sole determining factor on whether you succeed or whether you fail in anything in life.
