Make no mistake, our clients’ goals and results always have and always will be of utmost importance to me as a Coach/Trainer.
Continuing to provide a reputable and valuable service will always be a top priority to me as a Business Owner.
And being open, honest, and direct, will always take precedence over being politically correct as the person I wish to be perceived upon by others.
With all that being said, I have to admit that it feels incredibly liberating to say what I think, and speak how I feel, without having to give a single fuck as to what others might think of me. Yes, I have a company to operate. And yes, I probably should be more careful with my words at times. But I won’t ever compromise my morals and self-deprecate my beliefs by remaining quiet when I witness selfish acts of cruelty, homophobic hate crimes, online bullying, systemic racism, gender inequality and any and all toxic/unjust behaviour.
Using My Online Platforms for Good
I will be the first to admit that one of the main reasons I use our Social Media Platforms is to market our services to both our clients, as well as the general population. However it wasn’t until COVID-19 attacked the world in early 2020 when I realized I could also use our Social Media Platforms to promote empathy, kindness and support for one another. When I had originally started writing my weekly blogs back in 2010, the subject would always be geared towards health and fitness. But after writing hundreds of blogs about diets, training and supplementation for over a decade, I was starting to get bored. I needed a challenge. I needed to write about something that I actually cared about. And I needed to write about something that I knew people would care about as well.
And then this Global Pandemic began. I had a reason to write again. At first, I was fueled by annoyance towards the Toilet Paper Hoarders in the early stages of COVID-19. I was then ignited in anger by the Anti-Maskers that showed no respect towards the elderly and the immunocompromised. I became defensive and broadcasted my support openly for our Doctors, Scientists and Health Care Providers. As this Pandemic continued to go on, I became more confident, more outspoken and more liberated than ever before with my weekly blogs and online posts. I no longer cared what people thought of me. I no longer cared if my views and opinions would cost me business. All I cared about was doing my part to ensure that we as society would get through this Global Catastrophe in the safest manner possible. And the best way I could do this was by leading by example. And the best way to communicate these examples was through using my Social Media Platforms.
Why I Stopped Giving a Fuck About The Shit That Didn’t Matter, and Started Giving a Fuck About The Shit That Did Matter
I don’t have a large following on Social Media. And honestly I could care less as to how many “likes” I receive on a photo or post. I find it therapeutic to sit down and write a blog each week that I WANT to write about. Whether it’s been covering COVID-19, recognizing the importance of National Truth and Reconciliation Day, shaming Anti-Vaxxers’ protests held IN FRONT of a HOSPITAL, celebrating Pride Day, canceling Canada Day, acknowledging a dark and shameful chapter of our country’s history of the genocide that was and is, inflicted upon Indigenous Peoples, supporting Anti-Bully Day, pausing the show for Black Out Tuesday, and adding the odd training tip and dieting advice here and there (these are Fitness Platforms after all), I have zero regrets for my Online Activity within these past two years.
My only regret was being too much of a coward to openly express my thoughts and feelings before COVID-19 woke me up. I’m no longer careful with my words. I no longer am a sheep. I no longer hide behind screens.
And I no longer give a fuck…….
