Do You Need A Coach?

Do You Need an Online Coach/Personal Trainer?

Does everyone need to be coached?

The truth is, no. Not everyone needs to work with a coach if they want to achieve success in their desired sport or with their health and physique. Some people have the knowledge and motivation to achieve their goals alone. However in my experience, there are very few people who possess both of these attributes when it comes to becoming successful with their health and fitness goals. And even when they do have that knowledge, they will often start second guessing themselves when things aren't working right. This is just one of the many reasons why even some of the best trainers in the industry today (I'm including myself here) have their own coaches to bounce ideas off of and advise them on their own training, diet and supplementation program.

With that said, most people will experience MANY benefits from working with a professional, knowledgeable and experienced coach. And in this week's blog, without trying to overly endorse my own coaching services, I'm going to list off just a few of these benefits.

Are We Slaves To Our Genetics?

Have you ever wondered why some people have such a hard time losing weight, while others can just clean up their diets for just a few days and notice a significant decrease in the numbers on the scale? And then you have those people that eat anything and everything and not gain a single pound! Yes, most of us despise those types of people. And what about those genetic freaks in the gym, who simply just have to look at a dumbbell and they add on what seems like ten pounds of muscle overnight! That just isn't fair!

Not only is it not fair, but it can be truly discouraging for those of us that bust our asses so hard in the gym, and keep our diets so strict in the kitchen, yet receive very little in results with our physiques. Especially when considering the amount of time and effort that we put into sculpting, shaping and defining these physiques. It's like owning a high interest savings account. You dump all your savings into the account, yet at the end of the year, what you receive back in interest is quite pitiful to say the least.

Well if you know anything about financial investing, then you know that savings accounts are a waste of time. And when it comes to transforming your physique and improving your overall health, I consider fad diets and cookie cutter training programs to be the high interest savings accounts of the health and fitness industry. And I consider the trainers that promote and regurgitate this generic garbage to their clients, to be the sleazy banks that try to sell theses lackluster accounts to the ill informed consumer.

Developing a Healthy Habit

Is it just me or is anyone else becoming increasingly annoyed with these self-righteousness, overzealous, thirsty-for-fame, fitness enthusiasts, who constantly blow up our online newsfeeds with their "results" from all the "hard work" that they put into transforming their physiques? What many of these gym junkies fail to realize is that they're not fooling any of us with their bathroom selfies and filtered to the nines photos. Just because you copy and past an inspirational quote from Gandhi next to a photo of you squatting in the squat rack, does not make you a modern day Nostradamus. Posting photos of your ass or your abs does not inspire me to go to the gym and lift heavier and diet harder. And I feel that by "liking" these photos, all I'm doing is feeding in to this narcissistic behaviour and adding fuel to this eternal fire of a need for self validation from others.
