Every New Year we are always incredibly grateful and fortunate to receive a new influx of clients who are interested in working with us. The fresh start of a New Year, means a fresh start for many people who want to better themselves and improve their quality of life. Whether you choose to call it a New Year's Resolution, or choose to call it nothing at all, the first month of the New Year is and always has been without a doubt, one of our busiest months on record when it comes to gaining new clientele.
I must admit though, that going into 2021, I had my doubts that we would see fewer if any new faces at our Training Facility. Dragging your ass to the gym is already difficult enough for someone who is a "Gym Newbie". But trying to drag your ass to the gym while living though a Global Pandemic and facing the everyday challenges of working through an Economic Crisis? Well this would make the entire experience seem even more daunting, to even the most experienced Gym Junkies and Iron Addicts.
Losing sucks. There is nothing worse than feeling like a loser.
However as children we are taught (or at least some of us are taught) the importance of being gracious losers. If your parents raised you right (and not in the snowflake era where everyone is a winner ) than you already know that losing is a part of life and must be accepted upon defeat.
I’ve said time and time again that my greatest victories in life were fuelled by some of my greatest losses.
You might be surprised to know that what happened yesterday at the Capitol Hill Riot in Washington DC, didn’t surprise me in the least. I’m sure some people thought I would have jumped onto Facebook or Instagram last night to voice my concerns and reinforce the need for unity. But truth be told, I’m tired and I’m mentally burned out with trying to promote democracy, defend equality, and encourage empathy in what seems to have become a daily battle living through a Global Pandemic and an unjust society.
As I scrolled through my newsfeed this morning and saw just how disgraceful the protesters’ actions were yesterday and to my surprise, how much support they received from both Social Media AND THEIR PRESIDENT though, I realized that if I remained silent about yesterday’s event on Capitol Hill, I would only be doing myself a disservice. As someone who believes in democracy and is looked upon as somewhat of a leader in the Health & Fitness Industry, I feel as if I have a moral obligation to once again voice my concerns and show support for unity during these chaotic and uncertain times.
Wow.......2020, it's been one hell of a year.
This has been without a doubt, one if not the most challenging years many of us have ever had to overcome. COVID-19 took away lives, closed down businesses, ended careers, destroyed friendships, put a strain on relationships, and continues to wreak havoc on our livelihoods each and every day. To make matters even worse, it feels as if this Global Pandemic continues to divide us, rather than unite us while bringing us together in a fight to save mankind.
I'm fortunate to say that in my 35+ years of living on this planet, I've never had to ask to borrow money from anyone. I say I'm fortunate because I know that there are plenty of people out there who have not been giving the same career opportunities in life that I have been given, and therefore have had no choice but to borrow money from their friends and relatives when in need. I'm also fortunate because I've never had any serious health issues that have permitted me from working or medical expenses that have forced me to live beyond my means.
Living through a Global Pandemic, I can empathize with those people that are struggling financially right now. It makes me sad to think that so many people have lost their jobs during COVID-19. It makes me frightened to think how many businesses (both large and small) will be unable to reopen their doors once the vaccines have been distributed. And it makes me curious to think of how our economy is going to rebound after this Global Recession has ended.
With all that said, it also makes me disgusted to see just how many businesses are begging for free handouts from their clients both Online and through their Social Media Platforms these past few months.
