Personal Training Paparazzi

There is a growing trend being used by Personal Trainers and Coaches on their social media platforms that is really beginning to irk me. And that trend is filming clients while they exercise and workout during their sessions and posting it online for others to view and possibly even critique. I remember when Trainers first started filming their clients on their cellphones a few years ago. My first thought was how extremely unprofessional this act was on the Trainer's part, and my second thought was why the hell was the client allowing this to happen! I mean shouldn't the Trainer be TRAINING their client instead of FILMING their client?

I'm going to try my best to keep this week's blog a blog and not a rant, but I want to explain my reasoning as to why I don't film our clients working out and why I don't believe in broadcasting their results all over social media to help market our business. So please bear with me as I try my absolute best to not lose my shit on these Moronic Meatheads who are using their clients to help generate business while their clients are PAYING them to HELP them!!!!!

Maintaining Momentum

I work with alot of clients - both online and in person. I assist my clients by creating safe and effective training programs and by designing customized nutritional plans that are catered towards helping them achieve their specific health and fitness goals. I teach people how to train and exercise properly in the gym and educate them on how to diet and meal prep efficiently in the kitchen. As a Trainer/Coach it's my job to ensure that I do everything that I possibly can to help make sure my clients achieve the results they desire. This means having to troubleshoot when someone hits a plateau with their weight loss. Or having to come up with a strategy to help someone peak perfectly for a an upcoming fitness competition or special event. And sometimes it just means having to be there as someone who listens and offers support rather then a solution when that's all that's really needed.

Can You Have Brains & Brawn?

The other day one of my online clients who is currently getting ready for fitness competition emailed me with a question pertaining to body dysmorphia. She wanted to know if I myself have ever suffered with this mental disorder. Now you would think that as someone who has worked within the fitness industry for over two decades and has competed in dozens of bodybuilding shows where I've been judged purely on my aesthetics, the answer would be obvious. However truth be told, I never really have suffered from body dysmorphia.

Kickin’ & Keeping It Old School

As a small business owner, my goal has always been to remain profitable while providing a valuable service and experience that exceeds the expectations of our clientele base. Yes, ofcourse I want our company to be successful and to grow each year. However as our company continues to expand, I have always made sure that it is a win-win for both myself, our team and our consumers. I've never believed in selling a product or promoting a service that I do not believe in. The people who work with me, trust me to help them. This is an honour for me, and one that I take very seriously.

Unfortunately I cannot say the same for many of my counterparts with whom I share this fitness industry with. With the Summer Season approaching quickly, I keep seeing more and more of these fictitious fads being promoted online which promise "quick fixes" of weight loss and muscle gain. Now for the average Iron Virgin or unsuspecting potential client who has no clue about diet, training and supplementation, many of these pumped up promotions seem like the solution to their physique problems. So they hand over their hard earned cash for the generic dribble online diet plan or copy-and-paste training program. They register themselves for a "Boot Camp" that caters to the masses with a trainer who won't even remember their name, never mind their health history, physical limitations and training goals. And they become discouraged and quit when they don't see the results they want, or even worse, become injured from inadequate program design.
